Live Facial Recognition

As you may have seen, a Live Facial Recognition operation was carried out on Acton High Street Yesterday. This is the second time this new technology has been utilised on the streets of our Town. 
This time we were outside MacDonalds and 2 males were arrested as a result. We also recorded a third offence, which required further clarity and that person will be arrested in the next few shifts.

We also ended up on tiktok, but they appeared to think we had a special machine that could detect knives and drugs. (see photo)

In fact the technology is used to check if people are wanted by police. It briefly captures the face of everyone who enters the zone. It runs that picture and checks it against our database. Should there be no match then the photo is destroyed, if there is a match and you have a criminal record it checks to see if you have any outstanding warrants or any conditions. 

We arrested 2 who were wanted by courts, and one to follow or a male who was in an area he should not be in. 

You may also be aware that PC Cooper and PC Naja from South Acton Ward team arrested a male with a large amount of drugs who was searched as a direct result of intel from a member of our community. This is a great result for the team and is a direct result of your help.

You may not know this… but officers can not just search people, we need grounds. So if we have your description of a person wearing a yellow rain coat or a photo of that person dealing, or a video. Then we have a great reason to search them. 

I also need to say that this is not fishing for you to become citizen detectives!!! Be careful who you film or take photos of. Do not put yourself at risk. If you see something we do not need footage, your description of those involved can be more than enough. We know our clients very well. 

For example when a male was described as riding a lime bike and having large bags with him, we knew instantly who was being spoken of.
